Description
Crab Shell: We use crab shell to treat a root-knot nematode infestation and to prevent nematodes. Nematodes are soil dwelling critters native in the soils of the Lowcountry that crawl into plant roots and prevent plants from uptaking nutrients. Adding crab shell to the soil fosters a beneficial organism population that also likes to prey on nematodes. Crab shell also adds nutrients as a 3-4-0 fertilizer.
Application: We use 2# crab shell per 32 square foot bed (4’x8’). We add crab shell to the top of the bed before compost and lightly scratch into the soil. Sold in a 2# bag.
